FLUORESCENT PROTEIN INTEGRATED LIGHT EMITTING DIODES
Problem: Bio-friendly, energy efficient and high-color quality solid-state lighting is required due to the current limitations of phosphor-based LED technology and the currently investigated nanocrystal-integrated LED technology.
Technology: We propose a new class of color-conversion LEDs integrated with fluorescent proteins to overcome the disadvantages of currently used and investigated color conversion materials.
Advantages:
•Efficient and stable white light generation by strong absorption, high fluorescence quantum yields and high photostability
•The custom-designed emission spectrum by the narrow-emission linewidth of florescent proteins
•Biocompatible characteristics (green lighting)
