Would You like to be an Expert in the Horizon Europe Program?

The European Union’s 9th Framework Program, Horizon Europe (2021-2027) Program, aims to strengthen the European Union scientifically and technologically, to increase Europe's innovation capacity, competitiveness, and employment, to meet the priorities of the society and to contribute to Europe's socio-economic models and values. Within the framework of this program, approximately 20,000 international researchers contribute to the program as experts every year. The European Commission encourages experts from all fields to participate, regardless of colour, race, gender, or nationality.

 

Experts are independent professionals who evaluate project proposals and program processes. If you like,

  • To follow up closely and address the latest developments in related field at international scale,
  • To take an advantage of the possibilities that provided by the framework program,
  • To have a chance to develop scientific projects

you can join to the independent expert team of the European Commission.

 

Experts can be appointed in 4 ways:

  • Evaluators evaluate project proposals according to the written criteria.
  • Observers follow up the project evaluations and make suggestions to the Commission to improve the process.
  • Project Experts assist the Commission in implementation and inspection of supported projects.
  • Program Experts support the Commission in monitoring of projects and work programs.

These tasks are at a strategic level concerned with the implementation of a comprehensive program and the follow up of its results, rather than project proposals or technical aspects of projects.

 

Experts will, respectively;

  1. Get involved in the remote silent reading process which can take up to a week. They receive a subsidy of 450 Euros for each full day of assessment.
  2. Meet with the other experts assigned to the project in Brussels and complete the evaluation process as part of the final joint decision on the project. Travel and accommodation expenses are covered.

How to Register?

  1. Login to The European Commission’s official web page ( Funding & Tenders Portal ).
  2. Find Work As An Expert section at top of the page and access “Register as expert” button.
  3. Do not forget to complete requested information and specify the keywords that best reflect your work and interests in the Expertise section. While doing this, you can determine the keywords by examining the study programs of the fields you are interested in. This will increase your chances of selection.

 

As soon as the registration is completed, you can forward your applicant number (EX###) and the information below to horizon2020@tubitak.gov.tr, therefore it will be possible to take initiatives that will contribute your selection as an expert.
