Associate Prof. Dr. Deniz Sert Awarded Jean Monnet Chair

Associate Prof. Dr. Deniz Sert, a member of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Özyeğin University, has become the recipient of the prestigious Jean Monnet Chair for a term of 36 months in recognition of her project ‘’CHARM - Jean Monnet Chair of Migration and Mobility in Europe’.  

Associate Prof. Dr. Sert’s research interests include conflict, forced migration, international migration, irregular migration, transnational migration, border management and civil society. Through her 36-month CHARM project, Associate Prof. Dr. Sert aims to design a new course at OzU on migration and mobility in Europe, and hopes to provide an information, networking, and discussion platform for all students, researchers, academicians, NGO representatives, policy makers, and other professionals and expert institutions involved in the field of migration and mobility. The course to be designed within the scope of the CHARM project will develop strong relationships among participants through a series of workshops and conferences, and pave the way for future collaborations in education, research, and discussion activities.

A Jean Monnet Chair is a teaching post with a specialization in European Union studies for university professors. It can only be held by one professor, who must provide the minimum of 90 teaching hours per academic year over a period of three consecutive years.
