NEURON Cofund2 Project 2024 Joint International Call

ERA-NET NEURON Project 2024 Joint International Call (JTC 2024) has been opened. In the JTC 2024 call, researchers working in Türkiye will be supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK, 1071 Support Programme for Increasing Capacity to Benefit from International Research Funds and Participation in International R&D Cooperation.

The call aims to support multinational, collaborative research projects that will address critical translational and clinical questions to advance knowledge of the role of bidirectional central nervous system-body interactions in the occurrence and progression of neurological and psychiatric diseases.

Research proposals should cover at least one of the following areas:

• Fundamental research on the role of the bidirectional brain-body interaction on the pathogenesis and/or aetiology of neurological and psychiatric diseases. This may include the development of innovative or shared resources and technologies considered relevant in the context of this call.
• Pre-clinical and clinical research to develop new strategies for prevention, diagnosis, therapy, and rehabilitation procedures for diseases in which alterations in brain-body communication constitute a relevant pathology process.

The following research areas are excluded from this call:

• Neurodegenerative disorders addressed by the EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND).
• Proposals focusing on neuro-oncology.
• Proposals deal primarily with peripheral organ functions (e.g., lung, sensory organs, liver, cardiovascular, etc.) without focusing on the brain-body interaction.
• Proposals focus solely on technological developments without regard to neurobiological mechanisms.

Only international projects will be financed.

Each consortium submitting a proposal must consist of research groups from at least three countries funded by the organizations specified. The number of research groups in a consortium is limited to five. A maximum of two research groups can be from the same country.

Project Duration: Up to 36 months
