Take Part in Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) 2014 Prizes

Dear Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow,
You can take part in the second edition of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) Prizes 2014.
About the prize
The prize is symbolic not monetary beyond the financing of travel and accommodation costs to attend the conference award ceremony. The award winner will receive a certificate signed by the EU Commissioner for Education.
Evaluation Criteria for the MSCA Prize 2014
This year there will be three categories and for each category, the following selection criteria will be applied to select the winner:
 Promising Research Talent:
o Excellence of results (e.g. quality of publications in renowned journals) o Innovativeness of the research approach
o Potential to become a leading researcher
 Communicating Science:
o Effectiveness of outreach to the general public
o Coverage in mainstream media (e.g. published articles and/or interviews) o Innovative/creative approach
 Nurturing Research Talents:
o Notable tutoring and lecturing of students and PhD candidates
o Encouraged young people to engage in a research career (acted as an 'ambassador', 'role
model')
o Gained awards/credit for such activities
Who is eligible?
The contest is open for all FP7 MSCA Fellows and alumni.
How to apply?
You should submit two or three items, as well as some basic information:
 Statement of Motivation (obligatory): this should explain briefly why you think the participation will be beneficial for you, your research and your career, and your host organization (if relevant). At most 1⁄2 page, 250 words is requested;
 Letter of Recommendation (optional): this should be from a highly qualified scientist who is either in a supervisory role in your project or who is a leading scholar in the field and sufficiently knowledgeable about you. At most this should be one page and contain the formal letterhead of the organization of the person signing the letter. Please ensure the letter of recommendation is specific

Indicative timeline
 Call for applications:
o Open: July 2014
o Close: September 21, 2014 (midnight Brussels time).
 Evaluation:
o Individual assessment by members of the Jury : Early October 2014
o Consensus and selection of winners (by conference call), notification of winners: Late October
2014
 Awards Ceremony: 18 November 2014

Jury
The winners will be chosen by the jury composed of former winners, and other renowned researchers, including former MSCA fellows.
