  • Blockchain Technology in Maritime Transportation in Turkey: Preliminary Study

The recent increase in e-commerce due to developments in information technologies led to changes in communication and transaction methods. This had a positive impact on the speed and efficiency of international transactions. However, the period we are in can be called a transition period, while digital technologies are used for some of the transactions, only paper is used for the rest, and yet sometimes both methods are used together. The crucial point in this transition period is ensuring compliance whilst transitioning to new technologies. The overall aim of this project is to identify potential areas where blockchain technology can be used in the maritime industry and to examine the use of blockchain in these areas from a legal perspective. In this point of view, it is to determine what is necessary to make the system more practical and safer. This project also aims to investigate the benefits of using digital technologies in maritime trade.
